Pharmacy Resident '24

Carol Anyanwu

Growing up, I was surrounded by family members in the medical field, which sparked my interest in medicine from a very young age. After earning my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Colorado Denver, I initially planned to become a psychiatrist. However, my decision to pursue pharmacy was influenced by the profound impact of medications on my parents’ health and the values instilled in me by them as well. The idea of helping others in achieving healthier and happier lives resonated deeply with me, making pharmacy a fulfilling career choice.

I am set to graduate in May with my PharmD from the University of Colorado – Skaggs School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences. During my journey in this profession, I've gained experience working in outpatient hospital and retail pharmacies, discovering a passion for direct patient care along the way. My clinical interests lie in cardiovascular, psychiatric, and endocrine conditions, with a particular focus on diabetes management. I also find fulfillment in medication therapy management, as it allows me to assist underserved populations, a cause I hold close to my heart.

Outside of work, I enjoy going to the gym, hiking, attending concerts, as well as playing and watching basketball. Traveling is another passion of mine, and my most recent adventure took me to Costa Rica!
